We had been looking for a section to build a new home for a while, and had several requirements that were important to us. We wanted something rural, but not too far away from town, it had to have a view, be reasonably flat and larger than our old place of ~5000m2.
We had been looking at sections all over the western side of Hamilton for a while. Anything from Ngahinapouri to Ngaruawahia and within 30 minutes of Frankton. Our focus was on decent sized sections with a bit of elevation, however, there was slim pickings and we had been keeping an eye on what was available for the better part of 2 years.
Eventually we saw a site on Bedford Road and loved it, but the price was a little high for what we were looking for. We left it and it sat on the market for about 6 months, with the listing changing from bare land to a house and land package. When it changed back to a bare land listing late in 2022 it peaked our interest again, and we took a serious look at it again.
I did a bunch of background research, looking at the council records, proposed district plan and contacted the agent for more information. Long story short, we went for it, and by the end of January 2023 it was ours! Let the journey begin…
